How much does your service cost?
You can start the service for as little as $14.95 per month, plus $25 one-time only setup fee. Your Administrator account allows you to create user accounts for your transcriptionists and those completing the dictations – for FREE. There is no limit to the number of accounts you can create. You incur usage charges for minutes recorded for the phone-in dictation system and bandwidth used for uploading files. Please see our pricing page for more details.

How do you bill for the service?
Your credit card is billed on first of each month for usage from the previous month.

What is the cost for adding user accounts?
With MetroScript there is never any charge for creating additional user accounts. You create them via your administrator account, and you can create as many as you wish for no additional charge.

Are there any contracts required to use your service?
No. You can use the service for as long as you wish and you can close your account at any time. You are simply responsible for any charges incurred during the month you cancel your account.

Which browser do I need to use the MetroScript service?
MetroScript was developed and tested in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser and, currently, that is the only browser that is supported.

Do I need FTP software on my machine?
No, FTP software is not used with the service. You upload and download files through your browser and file transfers are encrypted.

Do I need to install any other software on my computer?
The MetroScript service requires a Java upload/download component installed on your computer. This is a free download and simple installation.

What file format does the phone-in dictation system create?
The phone-in dictation system records dictations in WAV file format.

What file formats can be uploaded?
Since MetroScript is used to securely transfer files between systems, any file format can be uploaded/downloaded. The file structure is not altered in any way during this process.

What hardware/software is required to listen to the dictations?

How can I be sure my files are secure?
MetroScript takes every precaution to ensure the security and integrity of your files. Medical and legal dictation files can be of the utmost privacy, so files are passed through a state-of-the-art encryption algorithm provided by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and the most secure digital certificate on the market. Is MetroScript HIPAA compliant?
The MetroScript service infrastructure provides the HIPAA compliance for you by encrypting your file transfers and housing the files in a secure, HIPAA compliant data center. Please see our security page for more details.

Can my clients phone in their medical or legal dictations?
Yes, in addition to the online file upload capabilities, the service includes an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) solution. Users can simply call the toll-free telephone number and dictate right over the telephone. The resulting voice file will immediately be available for download using your MetroScript account.

How long are files stored in the system?
We always maintain your files for the current month, plus all of your files from the previous month.  This term can be extended for additional fees.

Who typically uses your service?
MetroScript is used by transcription companies, single person "work from home" transcription businesses, doctors, lawyers, private investigators, book authors, etc. Basically anyone involved in the dictation and transcription process that has Internet access can use the service. MetroScript has users across the globe.

Is MetroScript also a transcription company?
No, MetroScript is a TASP (Transcription Application Service Provider). Our service is used by transcriptionists and transcription companies, but we do not provide any transcription service. In this manner, there is no conflict of interest and you should not be concerned about possibly losing business to MetroScript.
